The London borough of Bexley was formed in 1965; when the areas of Erith, Crayford and Sidcup were amalgamated and today (2017) it has a population of 244,988.
- The River Thames runs North of the Borough. The London Borough of Bromley is located on the South, Greenwich on the West and Dartford is to the East
- Until the early 20th Century Bexley was mainly open country side, hence its name, which means ‘clearing in the box wood’
